Community Bakery Course
Community Supported Bakery course
The Handmade Bakery is one of the first Community Supported Bakeries in the UK and our subscription bakery model has enabled us to start from virtually zero capital and build a sustainable bakery which engages and enlists the local community, giving them a say in where their bread comes from and a relationship with us the bakers.
(If you require more hands-on baking training then we recommend you book on one of our practical baking courses as time is limited on the day)
-
The Community Supported Bakery model: a case study of The Handmade Bakery
-
Designing your project: holistic and integrative approaches to building your project.
-
Finance: sourcing social enterprise funding, raising finance within the community, other ways of raising money.
-
Equipment: what do you need to get going and where can you source it from.
-
Scaling up: making the leap from domestic to professional baking; considerations of production scheduling, staff and volunteer rotation, recipe scaling, using mixers and large ovens etc.
-
Marketing: spreading the word within your community and beyond. Meaningful communication around 'real' bread.
-
Logistical considerations: delivering, invoicing, accounting, product costing, legal aspects such as environmental health, insurance, labelling etc.
