Cooperative Awards 2010

The Handmade Bakery is going from strength to strength and there are now 10 of us involved in one way or another. We're really pleased to let you know that now Matt, Johanna, Alison, Dan, Jo, Miriam, Paul, Natalia, Roy and Billy make up the team. Between us we're baking, cleaning, bookkeeping, running markets and teaching courses. Miriam is now baking our patisserie for us weekly, Alison is our latest valuable recruit and Paul moved from his volunteering position and has now joined as a full coop member and a director of the business.

 

We're really proud that the bakery is such a group effort and it seems others have recognised this too as we've just won the national Cooperatives Awards 2010!

 

David Button, Chair of Co-operatives UK, which organised the awards, said: “The Handmade Bakery is a relatively new business but it is already supplying its bread widely and has built up a reputation for the care and passion everyone puts into bread making. This care and passion deserves to be recognised and I am pleased to present them with a Co-operatives Award.”
